Toolboxes For Teachers

We were pleased to receive a grant to create two traveling toolboxes for educators to teach their students more about the Lake Michigan Watershed. This grant from the Lake Michigan Coastal Program of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources allowed us to develop one box focused on the mammals of the region and the other on the inhabitants of the lakes, rivers and streams of the watershed.

Each trunk is packed with hands on materials and books for a variety of learning experiences. As with all of our services and programs these toolboxes are free for teachers to borrow for one week. If you would like more information, please email Michelle Benson at the Porter County Soil & Water Conservation District at or call the office at 462-7515 ext. 3.
